BTTS Tips at a Glance
What Does BTTS Mean in Betting?
BTTS stands for Both Teams to Score. It is a football market where you bet on whether each team will score at least one goal in the match. If both sides score, BTTS Yes wins. If either side fails to score, BTTS No wins. The final score and the winner do not matter, only whether both teams find the net.
| Final Score | BTTS Yes | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1-1 | Wins | Both teams scored |
| 2-1 | Wins | Both teams scored |
| 3-2 | Wins | Both teams scored |
| 1-0 | Loses | The away team did not score |
| 4-0 | Loses | The away team did not score, however many goals the home team scores |
| 0-0 | Loses | Neither team scored |
BTTS is popular because it is easy to understand and often gives odds close to even. It is different from the goals markets, which count total goals. For those, see our Over/Under Goals Tips.
How We Pick BTTS Tips Today
A BTTS tip needs two things at once: both teams must create chances, and both must be able to finish them. These are the factors we check before we publish a pick.
Scoring Record
How often each team scores at home and away over recent matches. A team that regularly fails to score is a red flag for BTTS Yes.
Defensive Record
How often each team concedes. BTTS Yes needs defences that leak, not only attacks that score.
Expected Goals
Chance quality shows whether a team is genuinely dangerous or simply has been lucky with a few finishes.
Team News
A missing striker or goalkeeper can change the picture. We read line-ups and injury news before we decide.
Style and Tempo
Two sides that attack and leave space behind are good for BTTS Yes. Two cautious sides lean towards BTTS No.
Price and Value
We compare odds across bookmakers. If the price does not justify the risk, we skip the match.
Our full process is on the How We Pick page.
BTTS Yes or BTTS No?
When BTTS Yes Looks Attractive
- Two attacking teams. Both sides score regularly and press high.
- Weak or injured defences. Missing centre-backs or a goalkeeper in poor form raise the chance of conceding.
- Even matches. Matches between teams of similar level often see both sides score.
When BTTS No Looks Attractive
- One strong side against a weak one. The favourite often wins without conceding.
- A struggling attack. A team that has failed to score in several recent matches is a risk for BTTS Yes.
- Cautious tactics. Tight, defensive matches between rivals or in cup ties.
BTTS and Win Tips Explained
Many bettors search for BTTS and win tips. These combine BTTS with the match result in one bet, so both parts must come in. The odds are longer than for BTTS alone because there are fewer winning outcomes.
| Bet | Wins When | Example Scores |
|---|---|---|
| Home Win and BTTS Yes | The home team wins and both teams score | 2-1, 3-1, 3-2 |
| Away Win and BTTS Yes | The away team wins and both teams score | 1-2, 1-3, 2-3 |
| Draw and BTTS Yes | The match is a draw with goals at both ends | 1-1, 2-2 |
| BTTS Yes and Over 2.5 | Both teams score and there are three or more goals | 2-1, 1-2, 2-2 |
A 1-0 win does not count for a BTTS and win bet, and a 1-1 draw does not count for a BTTS and Over 2.5 bet. Combined bets carry more risk than single ones, so we use them carefully.
A Worked BTTS Example
This example uses illustrative figures, not a real match. It uses the Poisson distribution, a standard way to turn expected goals into probabilities. It is a simplification, because it treats the two teams’ goals as independent, but it shows the logic.
Expected goals: Team A 1.60 and Team B 1.10.
The chance that Team A scores at least once is 1 minus e to the power of -1.60, which is 79.81%. The chance that Team B scores at least once is 1 minus e to the power of -1.10, which is 66.71%.
Multiplying them gives a BTTS Yes probability of 53.24%. Fair odds are 1 divided by 0.5324, which is 1.88. If a bookmaker offers 1.95, the implied probability is 51.28%, and a 10.00 stake has an expected return of 10.38, an expected profit of 0.38.
The edge is small, which is typical. A small difference between your estimate and the price is where most real value sits, and it disappears quickly if the estimate is wrong. That is why we also check team news and recent form.
Which Site Is Best for BTTS Tips?
Plenty of sites publish BTTS tips, and the best one is not the one with the loudest claims. Use these checks to judge any tips site, including ours.
| Check | What to Look For |
|---|---|
| Reasons are shown | A good tip explains why. A bare list of matches is not analysis. |
| Odds are shown | You cannot judge a tip without the price it was given at. |
| Results are public | Look for an archive that includes losing tips, not only winners. |
| No guarantees | Anyone promising sure wins or a fixed accuracy percentage is selling certainty that does not exist. |
| Clear disclosures | The site should state its affiliate relationships and be open about who runs it. |
We follow these principles ourselves. See our Affiliate Disclosure and About pages for details.
Are BTTS Tips Accurate?
No tip is accurate every time. Football produces upsets, red cards and late goals, and BTTS can swing on a single goal. A tips site that claims a very high strike rate is almost certainly leaving something out, such as the odds, the losing days or the way results are counted.
A fairer question is whether a pick had value, which means the odds were higher than the true chance. A tip can lose and still have been a good bet, and a tip can win at poor odds and still have been a poor bet. We publish the odds and the reasoning so you can judge for yourself.
How BTTS Bets Are Settled
Common BTTS Betting Mistakes
| Mistake | Why It Costs You |
|---|---|
| Judging by one big score | A single 4-3 does not make a team a regular BTTS side. Look at several matches. |
| Ignoring lineups | A missing striker can move a match from BTTS Yes to BTTS No. |
| Betting short odds without value | A likely outcome at a poor price is still a poor bet. |
| Stacking too many legs | Each extra leg multiplies the chance that one of them fails. |
| Chasing losses | A common rule is to risk 1% to 2% of your bankroll per bet. With a 500.00 bankroll, that is 5.00 to 10.00. |

BTTS Tips FAQ
What does BTTS mean?
BTTS stands for Both Teams to Score. The bet wins if each team scores at least one goal in the match, whatever the final score.
What does BTTS mean in football betting?
In football betting, BTTS is a market where you predict whether both teams will score. BTTS Yes wins if both sides score. BTTS No wins if at least one side fails to score.
Does a 0-0 draw win BTTS?
No. A 0-0 draw means neither team scored, so BTTS Yes loses and BTTS No wins.
What are BTTS and win tips?
They are combined bets in which one team must win and both teams must score. For example, Home Win and BTTS Yes wins on a 2-1 or 3-2 home win, but not on a 1-0 home win.
What is the difference between BTTS and Over 2.5?
BTTS only asks whether each team scores at least once. Over 2.5 asks whether the match has three or more goals in total. A 1-1 draw is BTTS but not Over 2.5, and a 3-0 win is Over 2.5 but not BTTS.
Do own goals count for BTTS?
Usually an own goal counts as a goal for the team that benefits, but this varies between bookmakers. Check the operator’s rules before you bet.
Does extra time count for BTTS?
Usually not. BTTS is normally settled on regular time, which is 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Check your bookmaker’s rules to be sure.
Which site is best for BTTS tips?
Look for a site that shows its reasons and odds, publishes results openly including losses, makes no guarantees and discloses its affiliate links. Use these checks to compare any site.
Are BTTS tips guaranteed to win?
No. Every tip is an opinion based on analysis, and any bet can lose. Only stake what you can afford to lose.
