Accumulator Tips at a Glance
What Are Football Accumulator Tips?
Football accumulator tips, often called acca tips, are suggested selections that you combine into a single bet. Instead of betting on one match at a time, you link two or more selections together. The bet wins only if every selection wins. The attraction is the price: because the odds of each selection are multiplied, a small stake can return a large amount if everything lands.
The catch is just as simple. One losing leg loses the whole bet, so the more selections you add, the less likely the bet is to win. This page explains how accumulators work, shows the maths so you can see what you are really betting on, and publishes our free acca tips with the odds and a short reason for each leg.
Our approach is to keep accumulators short, usually two to four selections, and to build them from picks we would be comfortable making on their own. You can see the individual markets on our BTTS Tips, Over/Under Goals Tips and Corners Tips pages.
How Accumulator Bets Work
In a decimal-odds accumulator, you multiply the odds of every selection to get the combined odds. Your return is the stake multiplied by the combined odds.
Example. A four-selection accumulator with odds of 1.50, 2.00, 1.80 and 2.00.
Combined odds: 1.50 x 2.00 x 1.80 x 2.00 = 10.80.
A stake of 10.00 returns 108.00 if all four win, a profit of 98.00. If any one of them loses, the stake of 10.00 is lost.
Accumulators with two selections are called doubles and with three selections trebles. With four or more they are usually called four-folds, five-folds and so on.
Why Accumulators Are Riskier Than They Look
Each extra selection multiplies the chance that something goes wrong. If every selection has a 70% chance of winning, the chance that all of them win falls quickly.
| Selections | Chance All Win at 70% Each | Fair Odds |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 49.00% | 2.04 |
| 3 | 34.30% | 2.92 |
| 4 | 24.01% | 4.16 |
| 5 | 16.81% | 5.95 |
| 6 | 11.76% | 8.50 |
The margin also compounds. Bookmakers build a margin into every price. If each selection carries a margin of about 5%, a four-selection accumulator carries roughly 1.05 multiplied by itself four times, which is 1.2155, so a combined margin of around 21.55%. That is why a long accumulator is almost always a worse deal than the same selections bet as singles. It offers a bigger prize, not a better chance.
Types of Accumulator and System Bets
Besides a standard accumulator, bookmakers offer system bets that cover several combinations of the same selections, so you can still win something if one selection loses.
| Bet | Selections | Bets Placed |
|---|---|---|
| Double | 2 | 1 double |
| Treble | 3 | 1 treble |
| Trixie | 3 | 4: three doubles and one treble |
| Patent | 3 | 7: three singles, three doubles and one treble |
| Yankee | 4 | 11: six doubles, four trebles and one four-fold |
| Lucky 15 | 4 | 15: four singles, six doubles, four trebles and one four-fold |
System bets spread the stake across many bets, so a 10.00 stake on a Lucky 15 is split across 15 bets rather than placed all on one outcome. They cost more in total and have the same bookmaker margin on every bet, but they soften the all-or-nothing nature of a standard accumulator.
Accumulator Versus Bet Builder
An accumulator combines selections from different matches. A bet builder, sometimes called a same-game multi, combines several selections from one match, such as a team to win and over 2.5 goals. The selections in a bet builder are linked, because a team winning makes more goals more likely. Bookmakers price that link in, so a bet builder is not the same as an accumulator and should be judged separately. This page covers standard accumulators.
How We Build Acca Tips
- Start With Strong Singles. We begin with individual picks we would consider on their own, using the same checks as the rest of the site.
- Keep It Short. Fewer selections mean a better chance. We prefer two to four.
- Avoid Overlap. We do not stack selections from the same match or from matches that depend on each other.
- Check the Price. The combined odds must still justify the risk. If they do not, we publish no accumulator that day.
- Show the Reasons. Each leg has a short explanation, so you can drop a leg you disagree with.

Rules to Know Before You Bet
| Rule | What to Know |
|---|---|
| Void legs | If a match in your accumulator is postponed or voided, the selection is normally removed and the odds are recalculated without it. Check your bookmaker’s rules. |
| Every leg counts | A single loss ends the bet, including a loss in the last minute of the last match. |
| Settlement time | Most football selections are settled on regular time, which is 90 minutes plus stoppage time. |
| Cash out | Cash-out offers include a margin for the bookmaker, so they are usually worth less than the fair value of your bet. |
| Stake size | A common rule is to risk 1% to 2% of your bankroll per bet. With a 500.00 bankroll, that is 5.00 to 10.00, and for accumulators many people choose the lower end. |
Where Can I Find Profitable Accumulator Tips?
No tipster can guarantee a profit, and be careful with anyone who claims they can. Accumulators are high-variance bets, so even a good selection process will lose most of the time. These checks help you judge any source of acca tips, including ours.
- Reasons and odds are shown for every selection, not just a list of teams.
- Results are public and include the losing accumulators.
- Selections are modest. Beware of eight-fold and ten-fold accumulators sold as a sure thing.
- No guarantees and no fixed accuracy percentages.
- Clear disclosures about affiliate links and who runs the website.
Please also read our Responsible Gambling page. Accumulators are entertainment, and the most important rule is to stake only what you can afford to lose.
Common Accumulator Mistakes
| Mistake | Why It Hurts |
|---|---|
| Adding legs for a bigger prize | Every extra leg lowers the chance of winning much faster than it raises the odds. |
| Including very short odds | Selections at 1.10 add risk and almost no reward. |
| Betting on your favourite team | Loyalty is not analysis. |
| Chasing a near miss | A loss with one leg short is still a loss, and raising your stake to recover it is how losses grow. |
| Ignoring the margin | The longer the bet, the more bookmaker margin you carry. |
About These Tips and Our Standards
Accumulator Tips FAQ
What is an accumulator bet?
An accumulator is a single bet that combines two or more selections. All of the selections must win for the bet to win, and the odds of each selection are multiplied together.
What does acca mean in betting?
Acca is short for accumulator. Acca tips are suggested selections that you combine into one accumulator bet.
How are accumulator odds calculated?
Multiply the decimal odds of every selection. For example, 1.50 x 2.00 x 1.80 x 2.00 gives combined odds of 10.80, so a 10.00 stake returns 108.00 if all four selections win.
How many selections should an accumulator have?
There is no fixed number, but each extra selection lowers the chance of winning. Shorter accumulators of two to four selections have a better chance than long ones.
What happens if one match is postponed?
Usually the postponed selection is voided and removed from the accumulator, and the odds are recalculated for the remaining selections. Check your bookmaker’s rules.
What is the difference between an accumulator and a bet builder?
An accumulator combines selections from different matches. A bet builder combines several selections from the same match, and those selections are linked, so they are priced differently.
What is a Lucky 15?
A Lucky 15 is a system bet on four selections that places 15 bets: four singles, six doubles, four trebles and one four-fold. You can win something even if only one selection wins.
Are accumulators a good bet?
They carry more risk and more bookmaker margin than single bets. They can be entertaining, but they are not a reliable way to make money, and you should only stake what you can afford to lose.
Where can I find profitable accumulator tips?
No tipster can guarantee a profit. Look for a source that shows its reasons and odds, publishes results including losses, makes no guarantees and discloses its affiliate links.
Are your accumulator tips guaranteed to win?
No. Every tip is an opinion based on analysis, and any bet can lose.
Tips are opinions, not guarantees. 18+ only. Betting involves risk, and accumulators carry more of it. Read our Responsible Gambling page before you bet.
