Corner Tips at a Glance
What Are Corner Betting Tips?
Corner betting tips are predictions about the corner kicks in a football match. A corner is awarded when the ball crosses the goal line, on the ground or in the air, after it last touched a defending player. Corner bets let you wager on the total number of corners, on how many one team wins, or on which team wins more of them.
Corners behave differently from goals. A match that finishes 0-0 can still produce a dozen corners, while a match with an early goal can slow down and produce very few. That makes corners a market where team style, match situation and statistics matter a lot, and where careful analysis can show a different picture from the one the scoreline suggests.
On this page we publish free football corner tips with the line, the decimal odds with two decimals and a short reason for each pick. Corner data is reported less consistently than goals and results, so we skip matches where the information is thin instead of forcing a tip. If you are looking for goal markets, see our BTTS Tips and Over/Under Goals Tips.
Corner Betting Markets Explained
Most bookmakers offer the same core corner markets. These are the ones you will meet in our tips and in the betting menu of most operators.
| Market | What It Means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Total Corners Over/Under | Bet on whether the combined corners in the match are above or below a line. Over 9.5 wins with ten or more corners. | Over 9.5 Corners |
| Total Corners 3-Way | A whole-number line with three outcomes: under, exactly on the line, or over. The exact result pays much longer odds. | Exactly 10 |
| Asian Total Corners | Whole and quarter lines where a result on the line refunds the stake, or part of it. | Over 10.00 |
| Team Total Corners | Over or under a line for one team only, such as whether the home side wins more than 5.5 corners. | Home Over 5.5 |
| Corner Handicap | One team starts with a corner head start or deficit. A handicap of -1.5 means the team must win the count by two or more. | Away +1.5 Corners |
| Most Corners | Pick which team wins more corners, or whether the count is equal. A three-way market like 1X2. | Home Most Corners |
| Corner Race | Which team takes a set number of corners first, such as the first to three or first to five. | Home First to 5 |
| First Corner | Which team takes the first corner of the match. A short-term, high-variance market. | Away First Corner |
What Does Total Corners Over 7.5, 9.5 or 3.5 Mean?
Lines ending in .5 are the simplest. The .5 means the total can never land exactly on the line, so the bet always wins or loses. Add one to the whole number to find how many corners you need for an Over bet.
| Bet | Wins When | Loses When |
|---|---|---|
| Over 7.5 Corners | 8 or more corners in the match | 7 or fewer |
| Over 9.5 Corners | 10 or more corners in the match | 9 or fewer |
| Under 10.5 Corners | 10 or fewer corners in the match | 11 or more |
| Home Over 3.5 Corners | The home team wins 4 or more corners | The home team wins 3 or fewer |
When the line has a team name, such as Home Over 3.5, only that team’s corners count. Always check whether the market is for the match total or for one team before you place a bet.
What Does Total Corners 3-Way Mean?
The 3-way total corners market uses a whole-number line and gives you three outcomes instead of two: Under, Exactly and Over. If the line is 10, then Under 10 wins with nine corners or fewer, Exactly 10 wins with precisely ten, and Over 10 wins with eleven or more.
Illustrative prices. Under 10 at 2.40, Exactly 10 at 6.50 and Over 10 at 2.10. The implied probabilities are 41.67%, 15.38% and 47.62%, which add up to 104.67%. The extra 4.67% is the bookmaker’s margin.
The Exactly outcome pays long odds because it is the narrowest target, and it is the market where our tips are most cautious. In a 3-way market you cannot get a refund, so there is no push. Either one of the three outcomes happens or your bet loses.
What Are Asian Total Corners?
Asian total corners use whole-number lines and quarter lines such as 9.75 or 10.25. They are designed to reduce the chance of a plain loss when the total lands close to the line.
| Bet | How It Works |
|---|---|
| Whole line, for example Over 10.00 | With eleven or more corners the bet wins. With exactly ten the stake is refunded. With nine or fewer it loses. |
| Quarter line, for example Over 9.75 | Your stake is split in two halves, one on Over 9.50 and one on Over 10.00. With ten corners, half the stake wins and half is refunded. With eleven or more the whole bet wins. With nine or fewer it loses. |
Asian lines often come with lower odds than plain .5 lines because of the added protection. Check how your bookmaker displays and settles them, since the wording differs slightly between operators.
How Corner Bets Are Settled
Settlement rules differ between operators, so read them before you bet. These points are common, but they are not universal.
Corner Stats: What We Look At
Season averages are a start, not an answer. These are the corner statistics we compare before we publish a tip.
Corners For and Against
How many corners each team wins and concedes per match, so we see both its attack and its defence.
Home and Away Split
Many teams win far more corners at home. We use home figures for the home side and away figures for the visitors.
Shots and Crosses
Blocked shots, saved shots and crosses are the actions that most often lead to corners, so they help explain the numbers.
First and Second Half
Corners often come in bigger numbers late in matches, when teams push to change the result.
Leading and Trailing
Teams that lead tend to defend and win fewer corners, while trailing teams attack and win more.
Opponent Style
A team facing a deep, defensive block usually wins more corners than against a side that attacks back.
What Drives Corners in a Match
Corners follow patterns in how teams play. These are the factors we weigh most when we choose a corner tip.
Attacking style
Teams that play wide, cross often and shoot a lot tend to win many corners.
Possession and territory
The side that spends more time in the opponent’s half usually wins more of them, a classic case being a strong favourite against a deep defence.
Match state
A team that trails late pushes forward and wins corners in bursts, which is why late goals often change the final count.
Defensive approach
Defenders who clear the ball behind rather than play out from the back give away more corners.
Weather and pitch
Strong wind pushes crosses and clearances out of play, and heavy rain changes how the game flows.
Line-ups and tempo
Missing wingers or a change of formation shifts how many crosses and shots a team produces, so we always check team news.
A Worked Corners Example
This example uses illustrative figures, not a real match, to show how we turn statistics into a line.
Team A at home averages 6.50 corners won and 4.00 conceded per match. Team B away averages 4.50 corners won and 5.50 conceded.
Expected corners for Team A: the average of its 6.50 won and Team B’s 5.50 conceded, which is 6.00. Expected corners for Team B: the average of its 4.50 won and Team A’s 4.00 conceded, which is 4.25.
Expected total: 6.00 + 4.25 = 10.25 corners.
If a bookmaker offers Over 9.5 corners at odds of 1.90, the implied probability is 1 divided by 1.90, which is 52.63%. Our estimate of 10.25 is above the line, so Over 9.5 deserves a closer look. We would still check line-ups, weather and recent form before we make a pick, because averages hide big swings from match to match.
How We Pick Corner Tips
- Gather the Numbers. Corners won and conceded, home and away splits and recent matches for both teams.
- Check the Context. Team news, formation changes, the weather and what the match means for each side.
- Compare the Prices. We look at the line and odds across bookmakers and skip any match where the price does not justify the risk.
- Publish the Reasons. Each tip is posted before kick-off with a short explanation, so you can agree, disagree or pass.
The full approach is on our How We Pick page.
Common Corner Betting Mistakes
| Mistake | Why It Costs You |
|---|---|
| Betting on season averages alone | Averages ignore the opponent, the venue and a team’s current form. Always compare home and away figures. |
| Ignoring match state | A strong favourite that scores early may stop attacking and win fewer corners afterwards. |
| Chasing live corners | Live prices move fast, and the bookmaker often reacts to the same information you see on screen. |
| Skipping the settlement rules | Whether awarded or taken corners count can decide a bet. |
| Stacking many corner legs in one accumulator | Each leg carries its own variance, so the risk grows quickly. |
| Raising stakes after a loss | A common rule is to risk 1% to 2% of your bankroll per bet. With a 500.00 bankroll that is 5.00 to 10.00. |
About These Tips and Our Standards
Corner Betting FAQ
What does Over 9.5 corners mean?
It means the bet wins if the match has ten or more corners in total, and loses if it has nine or fewer. The .5 in the line means the bet cannot land exactly on the line.
What does total corners mean in football betting?
Total corners is the combined number of corner kicks taken by both teams in a match. You bet on whether the total will be over or under a line set by the bookmaker.
What does total corners 3-way mean?
It is a market with a whole-number line and three outcomes: under the line, exactly on the line or over the line. With a line of 10, Exactly 10 wins only if the match has precisely ten corners.
What are Asian total corners?
Asian total corners use whole-number and quarter lines. On a whole line, a result exactly on the line refunds your stake. On a quarter line such as 9.75, your stake is split between two neighbouring lines, so a result close to the line can mean a half win or a half refund.
What does home team total corners mean?
It is a bet on the number of corners won by the home team only. For example, Home Over 5.5 wins if the home team takes six or more corners, whatever the away team does.
Do corners in extra time count?
Usually not. Corner markets are normally settled on regular time, which is 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Check your bookmaker’s rules to be sure.
How many corners does a typical match have?
It varies by league and season, but a typical top-level match often has somewhere around nine to eleven corners in total. Team style and match situation can push a single game well above or below that.
What is a corner handicap?
A corner handicap gives one team a head start or deficit in corners. With Away +1.5, the away team wins the bet if it takes more corners than the home team, equals them, or loses the count by only one corner.
